Springsteen Hits The Airwaves

I had one of those happy moments yesterday.

I was making a quick run to the grocery store (and when I say quick I mean less than 2 minutes drive) and I heard Eric Church's Springsteen.

Intially, I didn't think much of it.

You see, I have been listening to this song faithfully for the last five months. And it's still my hands down favorite. Honestly, obsessed may be the right word for it. So much my husband and I wanted it to be our wedding song...and it's not even about a happy, mushy couple. Needless to say, we were talked out of it.

But the point of this post is that I love the song. And yesterday, it wasn't playing from my CD player. It was on the radio.

Thank the Lord, it is finally a single.

I don't know what he was waiting for. In my music-illiterate opinion, it's the best song on the CD. The whole world deserves to hear it. It converted me into an Eric Church groupie.

What do you think? Do you love it? Have you heard it on country radio?

Just in case you haven't, consider it a little afternoon pick-me up! Enjoy!

Happy Monday!

Another 101 in 1001 Update

Was it really almost a year ago that I made my 101 in 1001 goals? That means I have a little over two years left and a lot to accomplish. However, I have got a lot of things to cross off my list...starting with the big numero uno.

1. Get married. (You have to start with something easy.) | Check!

I was so nervous we wouldn't fit everyone in my little church. God must have heard my prayers, because we did!

love him.
We couldn't have asked for a better day and in the 2+ months since the wedding, we've had a fun time getting to know each other even better. You think you can know a guy after six year, but I promise living together is an adventure all itself. Most days I love it. :)

4. Go see a musical/play. | Jersey Boys in May

5. Go to a comedy club. | Just this Friday, we went with six of our friends to Dave Mordal at Gopher Hills and we loved him. Definitely doing this again!

12. Own my own heifer. | This is a blog post in itself and will be someday. But for the sake of crossing it off the list, yes, I own my own heifer. I like to call her Star...everyone else calls her Scarface. I am well on my way to accomplishing #20.

star with Mark & I in Valley City, ND
 14. Coach a 4-Her to the top 10 in state judging. | In August, our kids were the Minnesota Champion Junior 4-H Livestock Judging Team and not only did we an individual in the Top 10, we got one to the very top. We were so proud of our team for sweeping all three species and reasons and now we have a lot to live up to for the next 5 years (they were all only 6th graders!). And Matty Matt was 6th in the Senior contest, so we can successfully cross that one of the list!

28. Drink 4 glasses of water/day for 20 days straight. | Leading up to the wedding, I might have been drinking 12 glasses a day. Once I stopped worrying about bloating, breaking out from stress or gaining too much weight to fit into my dress...I knocked it down to 4 or so a day. Good thing my office is close to the lunch room!

34. Buy a car that I trust in the winter.|My trusty Altima has played a few tricks on me so far this winter, but nothing serious. So far, she is a keeper.

38. Own my own sewing machine.| Thanks to my dear aunt Kate who was SICK of "helping" me with sewing projects, I am now a sewing machine owner and I officially made my own pillows.  I don't know who's happier -- me or Ann May. I think she was getting sick of my craft nights with Alyssa. :)

simple way to jazz up our bed.
And that's where we stop...for now. Updates on 39+ will happen next post. I can't jam all the excitement into one blog, I need to spread the wealth! :)

Peace,

Jamie Lynn

The Power of PW

If I could be anyone, can I be PW?

Yesterday, on January 23rd, my favorite blogger Ree Drummond raved about some drool-worthy clutches from a little-known Etsy store called K.Slademade.

i mean gorgeous right?

and this one is even better.

but let's be clear this one is my favorite.

So, on January 24th (just one day later) even though my husband is being a bit critical lately of my shopping habits, I decided to just take a peek and see if I should grab one. What I found was bad for me, but good for Mark P.

I don't think K.Slademade was quite ready for the Pioneer Woman.

She was sold out. Of every single style. Nada. Nothing. Couldn't buy one if I wanted (and I wanted.)

Remind me when one day I quit my job and start a craft store on Etsy (can't a girl dream!?), to get Ree Drummond to love my stuff. Because, quite simply, she is the best advertisement you can get. Ever.

Which is just another reason I love Pioneer Woman. Just in case, you wanted the first reason I love her...it's this post. I promise you will love her too if you read it.

Hopefully, my turquoise clutch comes back and I can convince my husband I need it. Or maybe he will buy it for me for VDay? Or most likely, I will keep dreaming with the rest of you.

Until that day comes when we all own one of these beauties,

Jamie Lynn

Is This A Blog Post?

Yes, Friends, it is.

I hate writing this post. I think I write it every two months. You know, the post that says "Sorry it's been so long."

So, I am not going to write it.

I am just going to say Hello and tell you that I am really excited to jump back on the wagon. See it's a funny thing...I have every darn intention to sit down and blog. In fact, my mind tends to think in blog posts. I just never seem to have the time to do it.

However, I am now officially making time.

Because if I don't Cows, Corn & Country Girls is going to disappear into the land of Has Been Blogs.

And I am not going to let that happen.

So, this week, I am going to share some of my favorite things from my wedding. Yes, the wedding that was in November. Better late than never? And, I am going to update you on my 101 in 1001...which despite the few & far between updates, is going quite well.

Two posts in one week!? Yep, that's a promise.

Get excited and talk to you soon!

Peace,
JLMP
